Twelve-story community for older adults creates 150 jobs in Vancouver, Wash.

Vancouver, Wash., November 20, 2024 The Springs at The Waterfront, a 12-story residential community, has opened in Vancouver, Wash. Located in the recently revitalized waterfront neighborhood, this community for older adults has created 150 jobs to serve approximately 300 residents.

“The goal of the Waterfront Development Project is to provide a dynamic and vibrant mixed-use space for all,” Vancouver Mayor Anne McEnerny-Ogle said. With its emphasis on supporting the holistic wellness of its active residents, The Springs at The Waterfront community is a welcome addition to the diversity of development the waterfront offers.”

Conveniently located at The Waterfront Vancouver, only eight miles north of Portland, The Springs at The Waterfront is a dynamic, contemporary, and invigorating place to live. The ground-floor fireside lounge leads from the main lobby to access Waterfront Park, where extensive walking and biking paths are mixed with playgrounds, water features, and outdoor dining. The walkable district of restaurants and support services and the city’s most active farmer’s market can be found steps away.

PRIORITIZING WELLNESS
Designed as an optimum environment for the health and well-being of residents and staff, the community has been built to meet the rigorous standards for
LEED certification, which rates systems for the construction, operation, and maintenance of green buildings, and Fitwel certification, which uses evidence-based design and operational strategies to enhance occupant health.

The community features a spa and wellness center, an indoor pool, and multiple dining venues. The menu options reflect the company’s Art of Delicious philosophy, influenced by scratch cooking, inspired by Blue Zone nutrition, and made with the freshest ingredients that mirror the earth's natural rhythms. Fancho’s Public House offers residents upscale casual fare and a full bar inside the community. The Springs at The Waterfront provides a continuum of care options for its residents, from independent living to assisted living and memory care.

“We have taken everything we’ve learned over the past 30 years and poured it into The Springs at The Waterfront,” said Fee Stubblefield, founder and CEO of The Springs Living. “The result is more than just a beautiful environment. It’s full of energy and a great place to thrive. It’s our staff that truly makes the difference.”

COMMUNITY DESIGN
The Springs at The Waterfront provides a mix of floorplans showcasing stunning views of the Columbia River and surrounding mountains. Warm and inviting interior spaces are designed to bring the natural beauty of the Pacific Northwest inside, with high-end amenities and services suitable to an urban setting, including secure underground parking.

The building façade is composed of rich dark bronze, masonry, and wood tones that provide a warm and inviting presence. A pattern of spandrel glass and metal panels dances along the window wall tower with a playfulness that emulates reflections in the river’s current.

The community includes a theater, pool, spa, fitness facilities, and treatment rooms. The building’s common areas gravitate to the southern façade, which can provide all occupants with access to expansive river views from sunrise to sunset.

On the ninth floor, residents can enjoy a wine bar adjacent to a lush outdoor roof deck featuring garden beds, a putting green, and a dog run with commanding views of Mount Hood and the surrounding urban environment.

The community design and construction resulted from a collaborative effort between GBD Architects, Howard S. Wright Construction, and The Springs Living, all based in Oregon. The project's development partner, PMB, is a healthcare real estate development company based in San Diego, Calif. Capital partners include Harrison Street, Huntington Bank, City National Bank, Comerica Bank, and First National Bank.
